Accountability Group Contract
During the first week of the semester in EDJH 385, we were assigned Accountability Groups. These accountability groups allow us to support one another throughout the semester. By supporting each other we can check in during class and outside of class with one another, answer questions or concerns one of us may have, and work collaboratively with one another. Checking in and making sure we are staying on task and getting work done, helps remind us that we have someone in our corner rooting for us. I know that I have resources from my professors and others, but it is nice to have peers to rely on when I need help. Below I am attaching the expectation we have created for each other for the semester.
So far, I really enjoy the relationship that is being created in our accountability group. During discussions we each contribute and let each other know if their idea/s are something we strongly agree with or think is a good response. We delegate who does what for group work and if someone is struggling we all feel comfortable enough to say we need help or if we are having trouble understanding what we are doing. I feel that the contract we created for our group contains a good balance of checking in on each other and making sure we aren't putting all the work on one person or the other. We are meeting each other's social emotional needs without over doing it.
I have never had a group like this for a class while being in college but I am already seeing how beneficial it will be to the class and my learning process. So far, this is the most I have talked to my other classmates and interacted with my peers, and I think it is also helping me change as an individual by becoming more open and willing to engage. Personally, I can see myself implementing some version of an accountability group in my classroom.
